Role Model

If only I could be like her. Everyday she breaks her own record. Everyday. The number or words she understands. The number of words she can say. The distance she can crawl. The distance she can walk. The number of teeth in her mouth. That’s right it’s a new record. If I can break my own record even once a week, at anything, I’ll bay a way better person. Why do kids have it all figured out?

Control

She will never sleep when you want her to sleep. She sleeps when you know she shouldn’t be; she’ll be up all night. She won’t eat when its time. She wants it when you are eating. She’ll only play with her toys when you play with her. If you want to brush your teeth she will not play with her toys, but cling to you. Here’s the thing. The day she lets you brush your teeth, ignores you, and plays with her toys. It will kill you not to play with her. The more you try to control her, the more she will control you.  Don’t try to fight it. Embrace it.

About the Blog

I became a father on 17th April 2010. Even though I was prepared for being a dad, I was not the least bit prepared for what it meant to be a dad. This blog is about some of the pleasing, joyful, horrid, wonderful and annoying realisations that I've had as a parent of a beautiful baby girl.
