Joy

I’ve said before that she’s my role model . She’s inspired me again. Yesterday, as we went for our evening walk, you could still feel it in the air, that the rain stopped not long ago. The air was still damp and cool, the road was still just a little wet and the drops of water were still dripping from the trees. It did feel good after a long day at work. However my mind was still in the office. There was a metal railing along the pavement where we were walking, and some raindrops were still stuck to it. My daughter saw the drops and screamed with joy, “bubbles”! She then went to on to touch one of the ‘bubbles’ and couldn’t control her joy. “Ooh! Cold –Cold bubbles! Mummy! Cold-Cold Bubbles”, she said pointing the drops and jumping at the same time. Her wide-eyed look eventually turned into a laugh and she jumped and laughed for at least a minute! My wife and I couldn’t help but smile. I work on the 30 th Floor overlooking the sea and some iconic buildings...

Sponge

I had heard about children that they absorb everything but you need to be the parent of a little sponge, to really appreciate this. She sees everything. She hangs on to every word. Listens to every sound. Touches. Tastes. Smells. Taking in everything. Unfiltered. Today I saw (and heard) Life is wonderful for the first time.   She was with me when it came on. I saw her looking at the video with unblinking eyes. Firstly it’s an extremely cute (there’s no other word) sight to see a two-year old baby, with cheeks that might fall off any moment under their own chubby weight, looking at something with complete attention. Looking at the screen, with her big eyes, wide open, and utterly engrossed in the video. Secondly I had a few deep thoughts of my own. (Probably not as profound as those of Jason Mraz).
